Year 8 Camp - Keswick
Year 8 camp in the Lake District has been running for over 25 years. We use Burns farm campsite situated in St Johns in the Vale about a 5 minute drive from Keswick town centre. The students choose their tent groups and stay in 4 or 5 man tents; they also do all their own cooking on site under supervision in event shelters and gazebos.
WE DO THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES WHILST ON CAMP
Walking from the campsite to Walla Crag on to Ashness bridge and then back into town on a water taxi across Derwent water. Mountain biking (with local guides) and orienteering in Whinlatter forest. Canoeing or kayaking on Derwent water. Ghyll scrambling in Newlands valley (about 10 minutes from Derwent water). We also swim at the local leisure pool and one evening hire the facility for just our school. It has a wave machine and water slide. Each evening we organise games and these take place either in town at the local park or up the road at Threlkald cricket club.
