Curriculum Offer

At Key Stage 5 students study three A levels or equivalent for two years. Some of the highest achieving students study four A levels after consultation with the Head of Sixth Form. There is also the opportunity to study for the Enhanced Project Qualification in Year 13.

Any student who has not achieved a GCSE Grade 4 in either English or maths will take the course as a resit option in addition to their other courses.

The vast majority of courses are A level courses; we do offer level 3 courses in Applied Science, Health & Social Care, Information Technology, Music and Performing Arts (drama).  Some courses run subject to numbers.

Academic awards (A Levels): Art, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Design & Technology, English Language, English Literature, Film Studies, Geography, History, Maths and Further Maths, Modern Languages, Music, Philosophy & Ethics, Physical Education, Physics, Psychology.

Students continue to receive PSHE with a focus on life skills in preparation for joining the adult world. In addition students are given strong support to prepare for progression into Higher Education (HE), apprenticeship or employment.

The tutor system is very strong and students benefit from close pastoral and academic support.

Students in the Sixth Form are given the opportunity to get involved with a range of enhancement activities to promote a more holistic development and all are expected to undertake work experience during Year 12.
