Buxton Community School - Governors

The school’s Governing Body was reconstituted under the 2012 regulation and 2014 amendments in September 2015, and consists of 20 governors, each with a term of office of four years.  The Full Governing Body meet four times a year and the sub committees Resources and Education Comittees meet each half term.

The role of the Governing body is to help the school by:

  • Providing confident, strategic leadership and to create robust accountability, oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance.
  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.

The Governing Body can consist of a maximum of 20 Governors, split as follows, each with a term of office of four years:

  • 6 Parent Governors
  • 1 LA Governor
  • 1 Staff Governor
  • 1 Headteacher
  • 6 Co-opted Governors
  • 5 Foundation Governors
