Learning Resource Centre
“School Libraries are nothing less than the rooms young people enter in order to discover the world." Andrew Motion (Former Poet Laureate)
The Learning Resource Centre:
- promotes reading for pleasure
- provides resources to support students studies
- develops students independent learning skills
- provides careers resources
- provides study space and computers
We work with teachers to develop students’ independent learning and research skills. Reading for pleasure and wider reading is encouraged by English classes regularly visiting the LRC to discuss books and authors with the Librarian. We run book clubs and members take part in the annual Carnegie Book Award.
Students can use the LRC from 08:50 until 16:30 for private study.
Students can search the resources held in the LRC, see what books they have out and reserve books.
We are constantly adding new resources to the LRC, often at the request of students, and are involved with activities throughout the year such as World Book Day.
