Rotary Interviews

Please see below a letter which has gone out to all Y11 students regarding the opportunity to attend a mock interview.  Y11 students find this very useful ,as many of them will probably never have attended an interview but they will soon be faced with this challenge; whether it be for a university/college place or for employment.

Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to you with information about the Year 11 Mock Interview programme, which will run in school on the evenings of Monday 27th November, Tuesday 28th November and Thursday 30th November from

6.30–9 pm.

The Rotary Club of Buxton organises this event and the members act as interviewers for us.  It provides an excellent practice opportunity for all students to develop their interview skills (whether they are choosing to go on to further education or employment).

As a school we would encourage all Year 11 students to take part but would stress that once your son/daughter agrees to participate in the programme it must be treated as a total commitment to attend the interview.  We rely on the support of the Rotarians, who work in the day and volunteer for the programme in the evening.

In preparation for this event students will spend time in school next week completing a CV which will form the basis for their interview and complete a form accepting an opportunity to receive an interview.

Interview evenings will be organised by tutor group as follows:

Monday 27th November

Tutor groups:  WRD   ADR

Tuesday 28th November

Tutor groups:  CRT  BKY

Thursday 30th November

Tutor groups:  SFD  EDS

If your son/daughter cannot attend on the evening allocated to their tutor group they will be offered an alternative date.  Students are asked to come to school 15 minutes before their allocated interview time.  The whole process then takes approximately 30 minutes (20 minutes interview and 10 minutes feedback).

Following the interview students will be given a certificate by the Rotarians with written feedback as to how well they have done.  This should be kept as a record for the future.

Please contact Mrs Pope or Mrs O’Brien at your convenience if you would like further details.

Yours sincerely
