Students spread Christmas cheer

Handmade cards for the community

Our Key Stage 3 Students began the tradition of making handmade cards for our community during Covid.  After which, the students were thrilled to receive many letters of thanks and themselves learnt that Christmas for some, can be a very lonely and difficult time. Some residents were unable to see their family during that incredibly difficult time and the cards they received brought joy to both them and our students.

This year, many students volunteered during their lunchtimes and after school, to make as many cards as they could.  We managed to visit both the Portland and Argyle care homes to personally deliver over 60 handmade cards and to chat with the residents.

Cards were also made for children who will be in hospital receiving dialysis over the Christmas period. Tim, our IT Manager, will be visiting Birmingham Children's Hospital, where his partner is a nurse, over the Christmas period to chat and play games with the children and will deliver cards from the BCS students.

We are very proud of these students and their thoughtful gestures.

Thanks to Mrs Laura Flint for organising and running this scheme.
