Life in Sixth Form

How will life in Sixth Form differ?

The first noticeable difference is that you do not wear school uniform.

Sixth Formers are given the flexibility to wear their own clothes to school. It is important that students set a good example to the lower school and therefore consider an appropriate balance between smartness and the need to express individual style.

Sixth Formers are able to leave the school site at certain times in the day.

These are during break and lunch time. You are otherwise expected in Sixth Form from 08.50am to 3:20pm every day, to attend all lessons and to be punctual.

You will have some private study periods during the day.

During this time, most students work on their studies in the Sixth Form Study Centre and other areas designated for study. Part of the life of the Sixth Former is about becoming independent and learning how to organise your own time in order to balance onerous commitments to your A Level subjects with extra-curricular activities.

Support is there for you

You will be supported by a small army of tutors and an expert Sixth Form Team!

The Sixth Form Office team comprises of:

  • Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Gill Ashworth
  • Director of Progress, Ms Jackie Cruse
  • Senior Learning Mentor, Mrs Becky Hall
  • There are also Sixth Form Tutors, all of whom are experienced in Post 16 education.
