Buxton Community School

Y11 into Y12 Transition

Welcome Year 11 students!

After GCSEs, you will have a lovely, long Summer ahead of you and it’s important that you spend this time relaxing and re-charging your batteries ready to join BCS Sixth Form in September.

However, if you are bored (?!) or want to get ahead of yourself and engage in some meaningful work in preparation for the next stage of your learning journey, Sixth Form staff have put together a range of activities for you to do and you can access each subject area by clicking on the links on this page.

These tasks are not compulsory and don’t cover specific areas of the A level or L3 specifications, so don’t worry if you swap subject choices at a later date and haven’t done the work. You also don’t have to complete all the tasks – they are simply there to whet your appetite for the subject and give you a feel for what and how you might study over the next two years. There are some really interesting tasks to do, articles to read, videos to watch, research to engage in; we want you to really enjoy finding out about the subjects we have to offer and learning something new.

If you have any questions about this work or indeed anything to do with life in the Sixth Form, please do not hesitate to contact me at: Jackie.cruse@buxton.derbyshire.sch.uk

Have a lovely summer and fingers crossed for some sunshine!
