Procedure in the event of snow disruption

The following information was emailed to all parents/carers 25/11/2025

Dear Parent/Carer

As we are getting to that time of year when snow could cause disruption, we just wanted to run through procedures.

If snow starts to come so heavily during the day that we feel we need to close school to allow students and staff enough time to get home safely, we will initiate our Early Closure Procedures.  The students will hear the bell at an abnormal time and will be instructed by their teacher to go directly to their form rooms, or wherever they normally register.  Once there, they will be asked to contact home on their mobile phones to ask for instructions on what you would like them to do, ie walk straight home, wait at school to be collected, meet me in town, etc.  We ask that you then text your child with a message giving permission for them to leave school or wait to be collected.  The student must show this message to their supervising adult and will then be allowed to leave school or go to the holding area to wait to be collected.  If you are unable to text at that time but can speak on your child’s phone to the supervising member of staff, you can give verbal permission for them to leave.  Any student without a phone will be sent to school offices where the staff will assist them in contacting home and will allow them to leave once contact has been made and permission given.

Should we have to make the decision to close before the start of the school day, we will send an Arbor in-app message and an email and will also put it on the website.   On occasion, we decide to go for a late start to allow road conditions to improve and facilitate a safe journey.  Should this be the case, we will notify you in the same way.

Hopefully, if we get any snow it will be nice and festive during the Christmas holidays and then remain mild until Spring!

Thanks as always for your support.

Kind regards

Mrs Sam Jones
