Lest we forget

We remember who gave their lives.
The 11/11/2025 saw Mr Buckley giving another moving Remembrance Service with the Sixth Form in our beautiful Gothic Hall, to allow us to give our thanks to those who gave their lives for our freedom. As always, we particularly remembered former student Royal Marine Scott Gregory Taylor, who tragically lost his life whilst serving in Afghanistan.
Mr Buckley was assisted in the service by Y12 students Rose Redfern, who read The Dead by Rupert Brooke, and Libby Taylor, who read Aftermath by Siegfried Sassoon. Ms Jackie Cruse, Head of Sixth Form, read The Last Post by Carol Ann Duffy and Ex Sixth Former, Tom Crispin, played the Last Post magnificently. This was followed by a minute's silence throughout the school.
Mrs Caroline Sumner laid a wreath by Scott's remembrance plaque, which is a permanent fixture in the Gothic Hall.
At Buxton Community School, we feel it is incredibly important to remind students of the great sacrifice given to us by our brave soldiers, and our Remembrance Services are a highlight in our school calendar.
