Year 12 DofE Practice Expedition is a great success!
All goes well in the practice - now looking forward to the real thing!!
The Gold Duke of Edinburgh group in Year 12 completed a 3 day practice expedition between the 14th-16th April in the Dark Peak area. This qualification component is an essential step before students access the 4 day qualified expedition taking place in the Lake District in July.
The three groups had to independently plan, organise and undertake the expedition in 'wild country'. This involved travelling by foot across areas like Stanage Edge, Ladybower, Hope Cross and Kinder - whilst carrying all their kit and food and camping overnight. The students have worked hard in their weekly sessions preparing for the expedition and as a result were extremely impressive - all students will be able to access the qualifying expedition in the summer.
Huge congratulations to these terrific students for their efforts and excellent conduct whilst representing the DofE award scheme at BCS.
Additionally, thanks go to the Mr O'Brien and his supporting staff and the White Hall centre, for their support in the preparation and supervision of the group throughout the training and expeditions.
