Course Outline
Students begin their MFL journey by building strong foundations in either French or Spanish, depending on their language allocation. Learning focuses on phonics, essential grammar, everyday communication and cultural understanding.

In Year 8, students deepen their grammatical knowledge, broaden vocabulary and learn to communicate in more detail, using a greater range of tenses and opinions.

Assessment is 100% exam, taken at the end of Year 11. Students sit exams in:

Writing (25%) – messages, structured writing, translation
Mock assessments take place in Year 10 and Year 11 to support progress.
What Parents Can Do to Help
